Common Questions

Will this work on both 6V and 12V systems?

Yes. The switch itself is just a momentary push-button — it doesn't care about voltage. It carries the starter solenoid current, so it works the same whether your tractor has been converted from 6V to 12V or is original.

How do I bench-test before installing?

Pull the switch off and check continuity across the two terminals with a multimeter. With button NOT pressed → reading should be infinity (open circuit). Press the button → reading should drop to near 0 ohms (closed). If it's already closed at rest, the switch is stuck shorted. If it never closes, the contacts are burnt or broken.

My TO30 has been converted to 12V — should I replace the solenoid too?

If the original 6V solenoid is still installed, yes — a 6V solenoid running on 12V will eventually burn the coil. Modern 12V starter solenoids fit the TO30 mounting pattern with minor bracket work.
