FAQ

Common Questions

Is the wrist-pin bushing included, or do I need to buy it separately?

The bushing is included and pre-installed at the small end of the rod. You don't need to order one separately. Rod bearings (the big-end shells) and rod bolts are not included — those are separate parts. If you're doing a full bottom-end rebuild, order our Kubota main and rod bearing set (SKU 21024K) along with new rod bolts.

How many of these rods do I need?

Order one per cylinder. The V2003 and V2203 are 4-cylinder engines, so a complete rod replacement is 4 rods. The V2403 is also 4-cylinder. If you're replacing only the rod from a single damaged cylinder (hydrolock, broken rod), one rod will do — but inspect the others and the crankshaft journals carefully before reassembly.

My Bobcat 763 hydrolocked after the air filter got soaked — should I just replace the bent rod, or do all four?

In a hydrolock event, the damage is usually concentrated in one cylinder, but the shock load travels through the crank and can stress the other rods. Best practice is to remove all four rods and have a machine shop check each one for bend and twist. Replace any rod that fails inspection, and replace all the rod bearings while you're in there. Inspect the crank journals carefully — if you find scoring on the journal of the bent rod, the crank may need to come out for regrind.
