This is the complete assembly — body, bowl, and all components. It replaces the entire oil bath air cleaner unit on your Ford tractor, not just the bowl. If only your bowl is cracked, the complete assembly is still the most reliable fix since the housing and sealing surfaces on these older units are typically worn when the bowl fails.

Oil bath air cleaners draw incoming air down through a reservoir of engine oil. Dust and debris get trapped in the oil rather than reaching the engine. Under normal conditions, the oil in the bath should be checked and changed every 100–200 hours of operation, or more frequently in extremely dusty field conditions. Dirty or foamy oil in the bath is a sign it's overdue for a change.

Yes. Black smoke on a diesel tractor typically indicates rich running — too much fuel relative to air. A clogged or failing oil bath air cleaner can restrict airflow enough to cause black smoke, especially under load. Clean or replace the air cleaner and recheck. If black smoke continues after a new air cleaner, the injection pump or injectors may also need attention.
