FAQ

Common Questions

What's the difference between this F4L912 set and the F3L912 set (SKU 21029-21028)?

Cylinder count. This set is for the 4-cylinder F4L912 / F4L913 engines and includes one more rod-bearing pair than the F3L912 (3-cylinder) set. Both are STD size and use the same base OEM bearings (03362379 and 02137750), but the quantity in the kit is different. If your engine ID tag says F3L912 or F3L913, order SKU 21029-21028 instead.

Will this fit the Bobcat 873 / 883 with the Deutz engine?

Yes. The Bobcat 873 and 883 (and the older 864) used the Deutz F4L912 4-cylinder air-cooled diesel. If your machine has that engine, this bearing set fits. Always pull a journal first and measure to confirm STD is the right size — if the crank has been ground undersize previously, you'll need oversize bearings instead.

My Deutz-powered generator has been losing oil pressure as it warms up — is this the bearings?

Possibly. Bearings that are worn loose let oil through with less restriction, so pressure drops as the oil thins with heat. That's a classic worn-bearing pattern. Confirm by checking pressure with a mechanical gauge at idle and at operating temp — Deutz spec is in your service manual. If pressure is below spec at hot idle, pull the pan and check rod-bearing clearance with Plastigage. If the clearance is past Deutz's wear limit, you need this set (plus new rod bolts and possibly a crank regrind if any journals are damaged).
