FAQ

Common Questions

Is this a complete cylinder assembly or just a seal kit?

This is a complete power steering cylinder assembly — not a seal kit. You are buying the entire cylinder unit ready to bolt on. It replaces your existing cylinder completely. If you only need to rebuild the seals on your current cylinder, that would be a separate part. This assembly is the correct choice when the cylinder rod is scored, the housing is damaged, or you want a full factory-fresh replacement.

My Ford 6610 steers fine when cold but gets heavy after an hour of work — is that the cylinder or the pump?

That symptom pattern — steering fine when cold, heavy when hot — points more often to the power steering pump losing pressure as it heats up than to the cylinder itself. However, if the cylinder has internal bypass (worn seals) it can also worsen with heat. Check for fluid leaks at the cylinder rod first. If the rod is dry and the fluid level is good, have the pump pressure tested before replacing the cylinder. Call (818) 261-3896 and we can walk you through the diagnosis.

What's the difference between E3NN3A540BA and 83948953 — do I need to know which one my tractor has?

No. Both are OEM part numbers for the same power steering cylinder on the Ford 10 Series and S Series. Ford issued 83948953 as a superseding catalog number for E3NN3A540BA over time. Either number on your existing cylinder or in your parts manual confirms this is the correct replacement.
