How do I bench-test my old thermostat before replacing?

Drop it in a pot of water on the stove with a kitchen thermometer. Slowly heat the water. A Kubota thermostat should crack open around 71-82°C (160-180°F) and be fully open by ~95°C (203°F). If yours stays closed past 90°C, or won't fully open, or is stuck open at room temp, replace it.

Will this fit my Kubota RTV900?

Yes. The RTV900G/R/W9/XTG/XTR (gas and diesel variants) all use this thermostat. So do the RTV1140CPX and RTV-X1140. Same goes for all the ZD-series zero-turn mowers running V2203/V1505 engines.

Should I replace the gasket and the housing bolts with the thermostat?

Always replace the thermostat gasket (cheap and easy to forget). Inspect the housing for cracks or pitted gasket surface. Reuse the housing bolts if they're not stretched or stripped — they're standard bolts, not torque-to-yield.
