Common Questions

How do I know whether I need STD, 0.20 oversize, or 0.50 oversize rings?

Measure your cylinder bore at the top, middle, and bottom with a bore gauge. If the bore is at or near 87.00mm (STD), order STD rings (SKU 2442). If the cylinder was bored 0.20mm over (now 87.20mm), order these. If it was bored 0.50mm over (87.50mm), order the 0.50 oversize Piston + Ring kit (SKU 2446-2447). Or check the stamping on your existing piston — Kubota stamps the size on top.

How many of these ring sets do I need?

Order one per cylinder. The V2203 is a 4-cylinder engine, so you need 4 for a complete rebuild. All four cylinders should be the same size — don't mix oversize on some cylinders and STD on others.

This is just rings — does it come with a new piston?

No. This is rings only. If your existing pistons are still good (no scoring, cracking, or wear past the wear-limit) you can re-ring without buying new pistons. If pistons are damaged, you'll need new oversize pistons too. The 0.50 oversize version comes as a complete piston+ring kit (SKU 2446-2447), but for 0.20 oversize, we only offer rings — piston is sold separately at the machine shop level.
